The Yale Shirt in Forest Stripe
We found a truly beautiful "little heavy poplin" textile milled in Harajuku. While traditional oxford cloth is about 4osy, this fabric is a comparatively BEEFY 6osy, with the same crisp and flat hand as traditional oxford. Here in New England spring doesn't really show up until April, so we could use the extra weight to help get us through these last couple cold months. After several dozen washes and a few years of wear, this may become the best oxford on the face of the planet. Time will tell.
The fit is relaxed and slightly long to accommodate a tucked in look. The collar is full to allow a nice roll. Triangular pocket detail and third back collar button, as well as ascolite neck wrapped button shanks on the incredibly thick and luxurious "patina" buttons. Our favorite detail is the old world style side seam gusset. That took us a bit to perfect and we think the look of the deep rounded hem with the functional gusset at the top is as "Ivy" as the school we named this for.Ā
We have the best pizza and college basketball. Now we have the best oxfords, again. Bernie Gantmacher would be proud. CT forever and ever. Go Huskies.
