Specialty denim was the gateway drug. The thing that made us care about the details, and feverishly research the history and context of every single stitch. We've been chasing this dragon for 5 years now. It took 20 samples over the course of the last 6 months. and 5 samples over the last week to perfect the fit and details and allow our operators the time and reps to learn the construction techniques. Reinventing the wheel was very difficult.
The end result is a 13.5 oz. dead stock Japanese red cast, super flat selvedge denim, constructed with triple needle felled seams, sewn on a vintage Union Special 35800. With veg tan leather jacron and front button shank washer for reinforcement. Japanese brushed flannel pocketing, which we also used to reinforce the bottom of the back pockets (that triple stitch arcuate is not just for looks). Dual coin pocket. Cord reinforced belt loops. Double chainstitch side seams for added durability (and a unique fade), and chainstitch hem sewn on a vintage Union Special 33500. Proudly desinged, patterned, cut and sewn right here in Bridgeport, Conn.
The fit of these is relaxed in the seat with a very mild taper to a 9.5" leg opening. The model is 6'1" and wearing a 32" waist, with a custom hemmed 29" inseam.
